A dispute between The Toro Company and Cottonwood County concerning property taxes will result in tax abatements for Toro, which will be credited to upcoming property taxes.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners discussed the settlement reached in Minnesota Tax Court between the county and Toro.
The settlement involves property valuations for multiple parcels for tax years 2022, 2023 and 2024.
County Assessor David Grev noted that the valuations for the properties were lowered, with the abatement for tax year 2022 of $89,982 plus interest and the abatement for 2023 totalling $63,520 plus interest. Taxes for 2024 were adjusted prior to payment.
The abatement will be applied to the property taxes for Toro for the coming tax year, until it is reimbursed in full.
