After a tight first half, Marshall broke things open in the second half Tuesday night, pulling away for a 6-0 victory over the Wings United girls soccer team in Madelia.
The Wings were able to apply some early offensive pressure, creating a handful of good scoring chances but were unable to put the ball in the net.
Meanwhile, the Tigers put on constant offensive pressure over the final 20 minutes of the first half, with the Wings able to hold off every scoring chance.
In the final minute of the opening half, the Tigers broke through with an offensive rush. The ball went back to the point and the Tiger striker lofted a high shot that floated over the head of the Wings’ keeper into the net.
That gave the Tigers momentum for the second half, as Marshall netted a pair of quick goals to start the half, then tacked on three goals later in the half to seal the victory.
