A controversial proposed mining operation for cryptocurrency will go under the microscope before proceeding.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners discussed the application for a conditional use permit by Revolve Labs, which has plans to construct a cryptocurrency mining operation on the east side of Cottonwood Lake.
Planning and Zoning Officer Alex Schultz noted that after Thursday’s meeting, Revolve Labs voluntarily offered to have an environmental assessment worksheet done to study the impact on the local environment, including the possibility of noise pollution.
Meanwhile, the board directed Schultz to draft a moratorium on all further potential cryptocurrency mining operations until the EAW can be completed.
