The Wings United girls soccer team opened its season Tuesday night with a tough 6-1 loss to Tri-City United at Montgomery.
The Wings got off to a slow start, as TCU scored early in the contest. However, the Wings were able to battle back. Dayanara Coreas used a slick one-on-one move to weave around the defense and poke a shot into the bottom left of the goal, giving the Wings their first goal of the season.
However, TCU opened up a 4-1 halftime lead, then tacked on two more goals in the second half despite improved offensive pressure by the Wings, who finished the game with 15 shot attempts.
Fernanda Zepeda Alvarenga and Catalina Perez split time in goal for the Wings in the loss.
