As the final hours ticked down on Tuesday’s filing deadline, one thing was obvious.
Local politics ought to be interesting over the next few months. Ballot slots continued to fill up over the last several days.
Windom saw a heavy influx of candidates in the past few days, creating one of the city’s most contested elections in decades. The major change occurred in two city council races.
Here is how those council ballots looked at press time (two hours before filing closed):
• Ward 1 — Nathaniel Bjorklund, Jayesun Sherman and Tanya Smith.
• Ward 2 — Scott Benson (incumbent), Mari Harries and Loren Liepold.
Each of the council seats is for a four-year position.
