A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Dolores Muller, age 92, of Windom will be held Tues., Aug. 13th at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating. The burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.
Memorial gifts in Dolores’ name are preferred to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior (1157 3rd Ave., Windom, MN 56101) and Sunset Hospice Cottage (PO Box 203, Worthington, MN 56187).
Dolores Elaine Muller was born on January 21, 1932, in Albert Lea to the late Roy F. and Josephine (Hoffman) Schmidt. Dolores was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and attended country school at Hollandale. Dolores’ family then moved to southwestern Minnesota in 1938, living in Dale Township, Cottonwood County, and she was confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. Dolores attended Windom Public Schools, graduating as the class valedictorian. Her motto for graduating was “treat every moment as if it is a crisis” and she lived out this motto by being very organized and diligent throughout her life.
On July 2, 1950, Dolores was united in marriage to Richard Muller at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. The couple was blessed with three children, Gail, Wayne, and Scott. Dolores was a supportive wife and enjoyed providing a comfortable home for her family along with playing an important role in the farming operations with her husband, Richard. She drove the tractor, kept the books, as well as other tasks. Dolores’ enjoyments in life included sewing-she made all her grandchildren a quilt, and cooking-making noon meals for family up until a short time ago. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling, painting ceramics, baking, and entertaining friends and relatives.
Dolores was a longtime dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where she held several offices and was treasurer for many years. She helped with the lady’s circle, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School along with being a youth group leader. She also was an active 4-H member and leader where she was the sewing leader.
Dolores was recently hospitalized at Windom Area Health and was then placed in hospice care at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington where she passed away peacefully, on Tuesday morning, August 7, 2024, at the age of 92 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Gail (Russell) Maras of Windom, Wayne (Monica) Muller of Windom, and Scott (Lisa) Muller of Windom; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley) Maras, Sara (Matt) Arlandson, Kathryn (Andrew) Underwood, Mindy (Brad) Shupe, Bridgette (Robby) Armstrong, Andrea (Pat) Tiede, Jordan Muller, and Travis (Jasmine) Muller; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Schmidt of Fulshear, TX; one sister-in-law, Beatty Muller of Windom; and several nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Roy F and Josephine Schmidt; husband, of 67 years, Richard Muller (October 28, 2017); parents-in-law, Reuben and Amy Muller; sister, Marilyn and Jack Oberle, nephew, Tim Muller; sister-in-law, Mary Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Warren and Bernice Muller, and Dave Muller.
