The re-planting process at Voss Park has already begun, but by no means are they done.
Butterfield’s Voss Park was definitely hit hard by emerald ash borer, which took out about 230 trees, according to Mike Hall, who is the President of the Butterfield Threshermen’s Association. He said the park still has about 600 more trees that will probably come down, although they’re not sure when.
“Based on what we’re seeing from the trees, the east end seems to be a bit more affected than the west,” Hall said.
As of now, quite a few trees on the campground side (east side) have been cut down.
Hall said those coming to the Threshing Bee this year, which is Aug. 17-18, won’t see significant tree loss in the west end of the park where the Bee has all of its buildings, food
