James Parker Rick 64 yrs old passed away peacefully with his wife Shelly at his side July 20, 2024 at his home in Granbury, TX.
James was the son of John and Johanna Rick, youngest of 7 children; Renie, John Jr, Charles, Dennis, Marsha and Mary.
James was born July 12, 1960 in Estherville, IA.
He graduated from Windom High School in 1978, attended Mankato State University and earned his B.S. in Physical Education.
James earned his Master degree from Emporia State University in Special Education and Sports Administration in 2006.
James taught Math, Physical Education and Special Education over the years in Pinon, AZ, Mankato, MN, Tulsa, OK, Joshua & Bluff Dale,TX.
James has coached girl’s basketball and volleyball, boy’s football, basketball and track.
James has had the pleasure of being a part of several State Championships with Union Football, Girls Basketball, and Track during his tenure with Union High School.
James was also an avid MN sports fan, especially the Vikings.
James married the love of his life Shelly Wagner July 15th, 2000.
He is survived by wife Shelly Wagner; children Christa Westbrook, Thomas (Courtney) Westbrook, Carly (Darrean) Westbrook-Fisher, Lindsay Rick, Logan Rick, and Landon (Ellen) Rick, and 7 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Big Pops.
Also siblings Renie (Larry) Smith, Charles (Val) Rick, Dennis (Julie) Rick, Marsha (Tom) Hall, Mary (Ron) Roy, sister-in-law Peggy Rick.
Preceded in death by parents John & Johanna Rick and brother John Rick.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 27th at 4pm at Bluffdale Fire Hall in Bluffdale, TX.
