The city of Windom recently put out a call for assistance for removing sandbags and was grateful to have that call answered by many partners as sandbags are being picked up around the city today and residents should look for that event.
Over 50,000 sandbags were deployed and used during the recent flood, but now that the emergency is over, the bags need to be safely picked up and taken away, and area residents have complied the bags near curbs and households for the pick up.
Windom EDA Director Tiffany Lamb stated, “If you see these teams out working hard to clean up our community, words of gratitude and appreciation are always welcome. Otherwise, we do request that community members maintain a safe distance from machinery and avoid the streets they are cleaning up as possible.”
The local workers are being joined by teams from the cities of Mountain Lake, Redwood Falls, Marshall, and Worthington.
Lamb noted local partner Snowy River Hauling and Grading for their work in the curbside pick-up, and explained that numerous city of Windom departments have provided staff including Streets and Parks, Water/Wastewater and Electric Utility.
