An internet outage Tuesday afternoon and evening brought much of the city to a halt.
Windomnet reported the outage shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday, stating that both of the city’s main server lines — from the Twin Cities and from Omaha — were both knocked out.
Around 8:45 p.m., Windomnet technicians were able to install a work-around circuit to restore internet service, continuing to work with upstream providers to find the cause of the outage.
Finally, around 5 a.m. Wednesday, a 288-count fiber had been repaired, which restored all internet services in Windom.
Many businesses in Windom were impacted because of computer-based services within the stores and restaurants. As a result, credit card readers were knocked out of service.
