The Westbrook VFW Auxiliary Post 5098 recently announced that Ella Knakmuhs has been awarded first place in the Minnesota high school division of the “Get excited for the Red, White, and Blue” VFW contest for her performance of the American national anthem.
VFW don and Westbrook mayor Digger Phelps remarked, “Ella has a great voice. We were given a “heads up” about the contest and my wife arranged to have her record it.”
Knakmuhs was the only entry from WWG and dominated the competition at the district level and then also took top honors at the state contest as well. Her entry will go on to compete now at the national level.
