Windom Post 206 opened the sub-sub-state Sr. Legion playoffs Thursday with a tough 4-3 loss to Edgerton, in a game played at Pipestone.
Windom jumped to an early lead, scoring all of its runs in the top of the first inning. Quintin Tietz scored on a wild pitch and Hunter Palm and Jackson Joyce each hit an RBI single for a quick 3-0 lead.
Edgerton got on the board in the second inning on an error, then added an RBI double in the third, cutting the Windom lead to 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Edgerton took the lead, scoring two runs on an error.
Post 206 had baserunners in both the sixth and seventh innings but could not push a run across.
Hayden Tietz had two hits in the loss for Windom.
Joyce took the pitching loss, allowing five hits and one walk while fanning five.
Windom will play today (Friday) at 5 p.m., against the loser of today’s game between Adrian and Minneota.
