Pamela Nerhus

 

Pam Nerhus, age 77 of Northfield, MN, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Pamela Kay Nerhus was born August 1, 1946, in Storden, Minnesota, to Arthur Selmer and Lois Sophie (Olson) Nerhus. She was raised on the family farm, baptized and confirmed at Amo Lutheran Church and started her education at Windom Elementary School. She graduated from Storden High School in 1964, and in 1968, received her Education degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Pam’s teaching career began in Storden, next Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and then Northfield. She taught school and served as Librarian in the Northfield School District until retiring in June 2010.

In retirement, amongst other things, Pam was extremely active at Norway House in Minneapolis. She was a member of the Daughters of Norway where she served in many offices and at state conventions. She was a member of the Northfield Sons of Norway and with a Scandinavian Art Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting and rosemaling, Hardanger Embroidery, needle point and playing Bunko. Pam was the family historian and recently working on writing a Nerhus Family History book. She enjoyed frequent trips to Norway where she spent time with relatives and friends. She was generous, fun-loving, always ready for a party or family gathering, a devoted and wonderful daughter, sister, and aunt. Pam was loved and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her brother Robert (Deloris) of Cape Coral, Florida; her nephews and nieces Mark (Sarah) Nerhus of McKinney, Texas, Kirsten (Scott) Staples of Hutchinson, Caroline Nerhus (Dylan Jennings) of Minneapolis, Andrew Nerhus (Jamie Sargent) of Ada; 7 great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Andrew.

Services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM and a reception will follow the service. Interment will be in Amo Lutheran Cemetery, Storden, at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
