City of Windom flood update, July 2

The American Red Cross will be at Windom Area High School’s west parking lot today and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. They will have additional cleanup kits and supplies to help with cleanup. The cleanup kits are free. Those picking up kits will need to leave their address and phone number.

  • The drop-off site for Windom residents will be open until 6 p.m. today. Hours for the site will be adjusted to 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. to match the Red Cross cleanup kit distribution hours. The transfer station site will be closed Thursday for the July 4 holiday.
  • The Cottonwood County Landfill will be open normal hours Wednesday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • While you are cleaning your property, be sure you take pictures of damage and debris. This is important for insurance and assessment purposes.
  • Damage assessments are ongoing both in Windom and throughout the County. If you’d like to report your water damage using your phone or other device, please visit https://arcg.is/1KSXPf for a simple virtual report / survey. Cottonwood County residents (outside the City of Windom) are invited to use this virtual report to report damage.
  • If you have already turned a printable form from the City of Windom website, thank you for being proactive. You do NOT need to complete the online survey report. Only one report is needed per address.
  • All City of Windom utility customers will receive a mailed packet this week including a QR code to the online survey and a paper form. Please submit one of the two reports, in your preferred method, if you have not already done so.
