BREAKING: Sand, sandbags available at Arena

Heavy rainfall Thursday and overnight into Friday has prompted flooding in parts of Windom.

Perkins Creek has spilled over its banks between 16th Street and 17th Street and the Des Moines River is on the rise.

According to the National Weather Service, the current level of the Des Moines River in Windom is at 18.43 feet. The anticipated crest for the river will be sometime on June 25 or 26 at 22.50 feet.

Friday morning, Cottonwood County Emergency Management announced that sand and sandbags would be available to fill at the Windom Arena parking lot.

The heavy rainfall overnight also caused flooding at the Windom Country Club, which is closed to golfing until further notice. The clubhouse will be open.

More updates on the flooding in the area will be posted as they become available.
