BREAKING: I-90, Highway 86 reopen; several roads in county have water issues

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, the Minnesota Department of Transportation had announced that Interstate 90 and State Highway 86 had reopened entirely to traffic.

I-90 was closed earlier in the day between Worthington and Luverne due to flooding around Adrian.

Highway 86 was reduced to a single lane of traffic for a stretch south of Lakefield.

State Highway 91 between Adrian and Chandler also has reopened to traffic.

However, since earlier this afternoon, a two-mile stretch of US Highway 59 north of Worthington had been reduced to a single lane of traffic due to flooding and a portion of US Highway 75 from the Iowa state line to near Steen remained closed and detoured.

Cottonwood County Public Works also has announced that numerous county, state and township roads, particularly in the southern half of the county, have some form of flooding.

Crews are currently out marking flooded roads and setting up detours if necessary. The County Public Works department urges travelers on rural roads in the county to use extreme caution.
