At Tuesday’s Windom City Council meeting, the council unanimously supported returning Highway 60-71 to four lanes — all the way through town.
However, when it came time to vote on a resolution, the vote came in 4-1.
That’s because the resolution was split into three pieces:
• Opposing switching Windom’s existing four-lane to a three-lane.
• Removing the trial three-lane striping on the city’s south side, returning to a four-lane.
• Splitting the cost of new stoplights with Mn-DOT, 50-50.
Councilman Dennis Esplan opposed the stoplight portion, saying he would favor no more than a 20% payment. Check next week’s Citizen for more details.
