AMATEUR BASEBALL: Pirates go deep, roll past Foxes

The Windom Pirates got off to a fast start on offense Wednesday night, cruising to a 12-1 victory over Fox Lake in First Nite League action at Truman.

The Pirates plated five runs in the top of the first inning, scoring on an Alex Fink groundout, a wild pitch, a bases-loaded walk to Kobe Lovell and a two-run David Volk double.

The Pirates’ offensive eruption continued in the fourth. Conner Redman smashed a three-run home run, followed shortly by a solo shot from Fink for a 9-1 Windom lead.

Matt Madsen hit an RBI double in the fifth and Lovell had a two-run double in the sixth.

Redman, Fink, Lovell and Madsen each had two hits in the win for the Pirates.

Luke Gilbertson picked up the pitching win, working the first six innings. He allowed five hits and struck out two.
