The vacancy in the Cottonwood County Attorney’s office is having a trickle-down effect on at least one of the offices that agreed to temporarily handle county court cases.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners heard a request from Jackson County Attorney Kristi Meyeraan to scale back on work she is doing for the county.
Meyeraan noted her office could continue to handle any felony cases, but wanted to scale back on juvenile and misdemeanor cases.
County Coordinator Kelly Thongvivong noted there were two applicants for the vacant county attorney position, with the hope to have someone in place in the coming months.
