SECTION BASEBALL: Jaguars claim walk-off win over Wolverines

MLAC 300 000 0 = 3-9-0
T/ML/GHEC 100 001 2 = 4-10-1

The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey baseball team saw an early lead slip away, and saw its season come to an end in the Section 2A playoffs Thursday in Truman.

Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain rallied for a run in the sixth, then scored twice in the seventh for a walk-off 4-3 win over the Wolverines.

MLAC did all its offensive damage in the top of the first inning. Landon Simon and Sam Pidde hit RBI singles and Grant Regier plated a run with a groundout.

The Wolverines didn’t mount another scoring threat until the top of the seventh inning, putting two runners on base with two outs before a pop-out ended the threat.

The Jaguars cut the Wolverine lead to 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Then, in the seventh, the Jaguars tied the game with a one-out RBI triple and ended the game with an RBI single.

Tanner Schultz, Jake Evers and Simon each had two hits for the Wolverines.

Evers wound up taking the pitching loss, working the final one-third of an inning in relief.
