TRACK: Wolverines, Chargers run at conference meet

Red Rock Conference Meet

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey and Westbrook-Walnut Grove each took part in the Red Rock Conference Meet, held Thursday in Mt. Lake.

The WWG/RRC girls took fourth in the meet with 71 points. MLAC’s girls were seventh with 60. Hills-Beaver Creek won the meet with 147½ points.

For the boys, MLAC was fourth with 93 points. WWG/RRC was eighth with 16. HBC won the meet with 156½.

MLAC’s boys were paced by two-event individual winner Ethan Schroeder, who ran away with first in the 800 (2:01.77) and the 1,600 (4:34.04). Kody Wassman added a win in the 400 (51.79) and was second in the 800 (2:05.85). Chase Anacker was second in the high jump (5-10). Preston Xayachak took second in the long jump (18-11½).

MLAC’s team of Anacker, Xayachak, Schroeder and Wassman won the 4×400 relay (3:32.69).

For the Wolverine girls, leading the way was Meghan Johnson, who placed second in the 3,200 (12:40.29). Gracie Peters was second in the 400 (1:03.19). Katie Johnson finished third in the 3,200 (13:36.05).

The team of Theresa Nwaiga, Meghan Johnson, Hannah Beyer and Peters finished second in the 4×800 relay (10:54.44).


The WWG/RRC girls were led by runner-up finishes from Anna Byers in the 100 hurdles (18.30) and Abby Wiggins in the pole vault (7-6). Miranda Mischke finished third in both the 800 (2:40.34) and 1,600 (5:58.19). Evelyn Rentschler was third in the 100 hurdles (18.56) and pole vault (7-0). Amelia Sikel placed third in the long jump (14-5½).

The Charger boys were led by a fourth-place finish from Mark Mershon in the 110 hurdles (19.53).
