TUESDAY TRACK: Eagle boys take second at True Team

Section 3A True Team

The Windom Eagle boys finished second and the girls were 11th at the Section 3A True Team Meet, held Tuesday at Luverne.

The Eagle boys finished with 1,089 points. Luverne won the meet with 1,360 points. Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central finished 12th with 363.

For the girls, WWG/RRC finished seventh with 712 points. Windom was 11th with 643. Luverne won the meet with 1,508 points.

The runner-up finish for the Eagle boys means the team will be entered into a computerized meet with other section runners-up to determine wild-card teams to the state true team meet.

Windom’s boys were led by Job Ogeka, who won the triple jump with a career-best leap of 43-8½. Aaden Nauman added a first-place finish in the 1,600 (4:37.86) and was second in the 3,200 (10:10.21). Kevin Bleess was second in the 100 (12.26) and long jump (20-6¾). Windom also finished second in the 4×400 relay (3:37.26).

Windom’s girls were led by Kaylee Walklin, who won the 3,200 (11:45.28) and was second in the 1,600 (5:29.70). Toria Robillard added a runner-up finish in the pole vault (10-0)

The WWG/RRC girls were led by Anna Byers, who placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.75).

The top finish for the WWG/RRC boys came from Mark Mershon, who finished seventh in the 110 hurdles (20.47).

GSL Invite

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey’s girls were fourth and the boys tied for fifth at the Glencoe-Silver Lake Invitational, held Tuesday in Glencoe.

MLAC’s girls scored 75 points. Watertown-Mayer won the meet with 160.

The Wolverine boys scored 74 points. Southwest Christian of Chaska won the meet with 158.

The Wolverine girls were led by Katie Johnson, who won the 3,200 (13:27.30). The team of Theresa Nwaiga, Hannah Beyer, Kirstin Nickel and Gracie Peters won the 4×800 relay (11:03.50). Abigail Beyer was second in the 100 hurdles (20.02).

The Wolverine boys were led by a one-two finish in the 800, with Ethan Schroeder winning (2:00.08) and Kody Wassman finishing second (2:01.71). Chase Anacker added a win in the high jump (6-0). Preston Xayachak was second in the long jump (18-10). The team of Cameron Meyer, Caleb Klassen, Schroeder and Wassman won the 4×100 relay (47.79).

Section 2A True Team

The Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin girls were 15th and the boys 16th at the Section 2A True Team Meet, held Tuesday at Wells.

MCWBO’s girls scored 283 points. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton won the meet with 816.

The Maverick boys scored 327½ points. Minnesota Valley Lutheran won the meet with 850.

Individually, the Maverick girls were led by seventh-place finishes from Mylee Larson in the discus (92-0) and Ava Thate in the high jump (4-8).

The Maverick boys were led by Ryan Pierson, who won the 3,200 (10:05.55). Berent Kosbab finished third in the 200 (23.75).
