TRACK: Eagles run at Rebel Relays

Windom’s boys finished third and the girls took fourth at Thursday’s Rebel Relays, held in Slayton.

The Eagle boys scored 82½ points. MACCRAY/RCW won the meet with 88 points.

The Windom girls had 55½ points. MACCRAY/RCW won the meet with 123.

The meet had a unique format, with no individual events on the track. For field events, placing was a combined total between two athletes per team.

Windom’s boys were led by a runner-up finish from Noah Steffen, Job Ogeka, James Erickson and Elias Jensen in the 4×100 relay (46.61). The Eagle team of Steffen, Ogeka, Erickson and Kevin Bleess took second in the Swedish sprint relay (2:09.65) while the team of Aaden Nauman, Thomas Green, Charlie Smith and Bryce Green was second in the distance medley relay (9:03.00).

The team of Cole Purrington and Royce Smith took second in the discus and the team of Bleess and Elliot Serreyn was second in the long jump.

For the girls, the team of Mackenzi Meyeraan, Hailee Hilbrands, Jocelyn Frank and Jesselle Sosa was second in the 4×800 relay (10:42.24). The team of Ava Van Norman, Haidyn Sammons, Victoria Robillard and Kaylee Walklin took second in the sprint medley relay (4:43.17).

Laker 2 Invite

Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central’s girls and boys each placed eighth at the Laker 2 Invite, held Thursday in Cottonwood.

WWG/RRC’s girls scored 52 points. Lac Qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd won the meet with 133.

The Charger boys scored 28 points. Lakeview won the meet with 140½.

The Charger girls were led by a runner-up finish from the team of Ambrosia Yang, Mayah Wahl, Addison Voge and Amelia Sikel in the 4×100 relay (56.76).

Blake Paplow paced the Charger boys, finishing second in the shot put (41-3).
