Huge crowd attends celebration of life ceremony for Pastor Marie Savage

The Bethel Mennonite Church is right across the street from where pastor Marie Savage served at Center Point church in Mt. Lake until the 39-year-old mother passed away after being struck by a truck while jogging last weekend. Every seat was full Thursday and more guests were standing as people from far and wide gathered for a celebration of life ceremony.

There were many tears but also lots of laughter as stories were told and worship songs centering on the hope and glory of Jesus Christ were sung by the hundreds in attendance.

Pastor Mark Dean gave the message, which included clips of Savage, and the throng included at least 50 pastors from around the state that stood at one point in the service to be recognized. Many speakers and friends took the microphone to laud and recognize the work that Savage did especially with youth, children and women in her ministry.

Savage is survived by her husband Pastor David Savage, and three children: David Ezra, Hannah and Abigail.

The church service was live streamed and is available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/live/fZ_muBYc9Dw?si=MkzMfuEAMm449nY3.
