TUESDAY SOFTBALL: Falcons rally, walk-off Wolverines

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, then rallied again in the eighth to earn a walk-off 6-5 win over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey Tuesday in Walnut Grove.

The Wolverines jumped to an early lead, scoring on a wild pitch and on an Ella Dockter solo home run in the top of the first.

Annika Brinkman drew a bases-loaded walk in the second Reagan Pedersen scored on a double steal in the fifth, giving the Wolverines a 4-0 lead.

The Falcons rallied in the bottom of the seventh. Natalie Wahl drove in a run with a ground out, Mercedes Myers hit a two-run double and Leah Carter tied the game with an RBI single.

The Wolverines regained the lead in the top of the eighth. Julia Brinkman hit a one-out single, stole second and took third on a single from Ella Peters. Brinkman then scored on the back end of a double steal, giving MLAC a 5-4 lead.

But in the bottom of the seventh, Addeson Jenniges scored on a wild pitch and Ella Knakmuhs ended the game with an RBI single.

Knakmuhs led RRC/WWG with three hits. Ella Erickson, Wahl and Jenniges had two hits each.

Julia Brinkman led MLAC with three hits. Dockter added two hits.

Jenniges picked up the pitching win, allowing nine hits and eight walks while striking out eight.

Ashlyn Pfeiffer took the loss for the Wolverines, allowing 12 hits and seven walks while striking out seven.
