Big projects ahead for county employees

The next few years could see Cottonwood County make a major investment in its infrastructure.

A new county public works facility is just the start of that investment.

County Board Chair Norm Holmen said that the county’s financial state is strong, but the list of needs for the county is lengthy and growing longer.

“We’ve been working on the public works facility the last seven or eight years and have been setting aside money, so we could remain strong, financially,” Holmen said. “There are a lot of projects. Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services needs remodeling. The courthouse windows need to be replaced. We need to look at remodeling our law enforcement center. We’ve been proactive moving forward to keep the county in strong financial shape.”
