School board gets details on D.C. trip

An update on a 2025 Washington D.C. trip took center stage at Monday’s Windom School Board meeting.

Social studies teachers Emily Riordan, Sydney Mortenson and James Burton presented information about the trip, which is set for June 19-28, 2025. Riordan said feedback from the last Washington, D.C. trip was positive, so staff felt another trip would benefit students.

The trip is available for students in grades 9-12 (during the 2024-25 school year) at WAS. Five chaperones will be attending and the cost is $1,750 before any grants have been secured.

The trip requires a $250 deposit and contract and is limited to 43 students. Additional payments of $500 are due at later dates.
