Top-seeded Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey wasted no time jumping out to a commanding lead Tuesday night, as the Wolverines rolled to a 77-32 win over Martin County West in the Section 2A playoffs at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines held the Mavericks scoreless for seven minutes in the opening half, opening up an 18-3 lead early.
The Wolverines continued to push the pace in the opening half, eventually stretching the lead to 48-24 at halftime.
In the second half, MLAC’s defense was the story, as the Wolverine held the Mavericks to just four field goals in the half. The Wolverines held MCW without a basket for the first four minutes of the half, then held MCW scoreless for the final 5:47 of the game.
Carter Olson led a balanced attack for the Wolverines with 15 points. Grant Oakland and Grant Regier each scored 12 points and Alex Karschnik added 11.
