New Generator building going up and playground revisions in works

The city of Windom in 2023 saw some major upheavals and decisions being made.

HyLife Foods, which employed over 1,000 workers, closed its doors, but Premium Iowa Pork out of Hospers, Iowa bought the business and all of Windom awaits its opening in 2024. The city also has the promise of a brand-new four-story Medical Office Building, for which construction began late last year and continues to this day.

So it will be a crucial year for big projects, yet smaller ventures in the electric department are also going to be crucial. Meanwhile, the long-awaited restoration of Kastle Kingdom is also on the docket.

These two issues will be the subjects of “Part 2” in the Citizen’s annual State of the City series.

Kastle Kingdom

Kastle Kingdom is a playground and recreation facility on the hill in east Windom and it has been nearing the end of its expected usefulness for a few years now, according the Windom City Administrator Steve Nasby.

Please see the Feb. 28 Citizen for more details on this story.
