County contracts for attorney services

At Monday’s special meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners approved contracts to provide attorney services to the county while seeking to fill its county attorney vacancy.

The board discussed a contract proposal with the Jackson County attorney and with Slayton-based attorney Kayla Johnson to provide interim county attorney services.

The board approved the contract with Jackson County to handle criminal cases, while Johnson will handle child protection cases.

Johnson serves part-time as Assistant Murray County Attorney, in addition to having a private practice.

More from Monday’s meeting appears in the Feb. 28 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
