School board meets gifted and talented students

The Windom School Board had an opportunity to see a short demonstration from the school’s gifted and talented program at Monday’s board meeting.

Second-graders from Corey Barfknecht’s gifted and talented class gave board members a brief demonstration of the robots they designed in class earlier this year. The students designed ozobots, which helps the students with critical thinking and problem solving.

Barfknecht gave the students a challenge and that was to research five tourist destinations in the United States. The second-graders did the research and turned it into a story of their ozobot going on vacation.

In doing so, they had to use some of the specific skills the ozobot was designed to do, such as dance or do different light programs.
