Cottonwood County Attorney resigns

For the second time in less than a month, an elected Cottonwood County official has resigned.

County Attorney Nick Anderson confirmed Wednesday that he has resigned, with his last day set for March 12. Anderson will be taking a position with the public defender’s office in Worthington.

This comes after assistant county attorney Casey Schofield-Mork resigned for a different position recently, as well as the resignation of auditor/treasurer Donna Torkelson recently.

Anderson noted that the state has been increasing pay for public defenders, which has caused 22 other counties in the state to have vacant assistant county attorney positions.

More on this story, as well as Tuesday’s county board meeting, will appear in the Feb. 21 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
