Mt. Lake board prepares for cuts

Over $675,000 worth of recommended budget cuts came before the Mt. Lake Public School Board at a special meeting Tuesday night.

The goal for the board was to go through line items to come up with a final list of proposed reductions for the 2024-25 school year, which will be acted upon at the Feb. 20 regular meeting.

Of a list of 30 items, the board pulled three from the list: eliminating the high school art program, moving all winter sports practices to Mt. Lake to eliminate travel expenses and moving all spring practices to Mt. Lake to eliminate travel expenses.

The final amount the board will act on at its regular meeting comes to a total of $660,771 in cuts for the coming school year.
