Assistant county attorney resigns

At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners accepted the resignation of assistant county attorney Casey Schofield-Mork.

County Attorney Nick Anderson expressed concern over the ability to fill the vacancy, stating that nearly 25% of the counties in the state have vacant assistant county attorney positions. He added that the starting salary on the county’s salary matrix may not be competitive with other counties also trying to fill positions.

The board opted to not adjust the salary matrix at this time and authorized posting the position, including advertising at law schools in the region.
