TUESDAY BOYS BASKETBALL: Wolverines surge past Eagles

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey took command late in the opening half Tuesday night, then used a run early in the second half to claim an 87-70 victory over the Windom Eagles in Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines broke the game open with a 10-0 burst late in the opening half, sparked by a three-pointer and back-to-back lay-ups from Carter Olson. MLAC led by 10 at the break.

In the second half, MLAC’s hot offense continued, as the Wolverines hit six three-pointers in the second half.

Windom tried to cut into the deficit with five three-pointers of its own in the second half, but the Wolverines’ early 9-0 run pushed the lead over 20 points, where it stayed much of the second half.

Olson led the Wolverines with 21 points in the win. Grant Oakland scored 20 points, Grant Regier added 13 and Kody Wassman scored 11 in the win.

Eli Lund led the Eagles with 20 points. Job Ogeka scored 16. Charles Erickson and Drew Rothenberger each added 13 in the loss.
