BOYS BASKETBALL: Wolverines hold off Rebels

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey avenged its only Red Rock Conference loss of the season to date Friday night, building a commanding lead and holding on late to defeat Murray County Central 67-58 in Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines built a lead late in the first half, ending the half with a 25-5 run to lead by 19 at halftime.

The Wolverines were able to stretch the lead as large as 23 points early in the second half, but MCC battled back, closing to within four points late.

Carter Olson led the Wolverines with 21 points. Grant Regier scored 14 and Kody Wassman added 11.

RTR 38-31 = 69

A shorthanded Red Rock Central squad couldn’t keep pace with Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Friday night, falling 69-39 to the Knights at Tyler.

RRC played without its two leading scorers, seniors Isaac Simonson and Jayden Lang, due to illness.

RTR took advantage, holding the Falcons to 15 field goals in the game.

Corey Arkell led the Falcons with 10 points. Henry Stavnes added nine points in the loss.
