MLPS hires Henning as new superintendent

Mt. Lake Public School wasted no time in filling its vacant superintendent position.

The district announced Thursday morning that Brandon Henning had agreed to a contract to serve as both superintendent and elementary principal, pending final approval from the board at a special meeting on Feb. 5.

Henning currently serves as elementary principal at Mt. Lake Public School.

Current Mt. Lake Superintendent Bill Strom announced his retirement, effective June 30, after his contract for the current school year was approved. The school board then posted internally to fill the vacancy.

One of the budget cuts recommended for the district that will be acted on at the February board meeting was reducing the superintendent position to half-time.
