Swimming pool study approved

The Windom City Council recently approved a feasability study that commits $4,450 now to look at repair and replacement costs for the city swimming pool.

The council approved a total budget of $12,870 for subsequent phases of the study going forward.

Those steps will look at community needs and vision, location, preliminary design concepts and costs. A community of approximately 10 was discussed as being needed plus input from the council and community members.

Council members discussed the issue and agreed that cost will likely be a big issue. Mayor Dominic Jones said that he believes any major pool project would likely need to be put to voters in a referendum.

The feasibility study is intended to help determine what options are available and at what cost.
