GIRLS BASKETBALL: Wolverines, Falcons fall Friday

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton broke things open over the final nine minutes of the game Friday night, claiming a 65-57 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey at Mt. Lake.

The Knights used a 9-0 run to take a 10-point lead early in the second half, but the Wolverines were able to erase the deficit, tying the game at 41-41.

But RTR regained control, going on a 10-1 run to take the lead for good.

Phithsada Phoumivong led the Wolverines with 15 points in the loss. Julia Brinkman added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

RRC 08-12 = 20
WWG 38-38 = 78

Red Rock Central trailed from the onset and never recovered Friday night as Westbrook-Walnut Grove cruised to a 78-20 victory at Westbrook.

WWG started the game with a 16-0 run and outscored the Falcons 38-8 in the opening half. The Chargers held the Falcons to 18% shooting for the game and outscored RRC 17-3 from the free throw line.

Maia Scheffler led RRC with seven points. Sydney Vogel added six points.
