GIRLS BASKETBALL: Eagles win, Falcons fall to Patriots

The Windom Eagle girls basketball team pulled away down the stretch Thursday night, securing a 68-47 win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at Windom.

The Eagles led by nine at halftime, but TMB was able to start the second half with a run, cutting the Eagle lead to six.

But the Eagles finished the game with a 22-7 surge, pulling away for the victory.

The Eagles dominated the glass in the game, outrebounding the Panthers 57-42. Windom yanked down 20 offensive rebounds in the game, leading to a 16-0 edge in second-chance points.

Hannah Dauer led the Eagles with 22 points. Hadley Sammons added 19 points, seven assists and seven steals.

HBC 38-15 = 53
RRC 25-14 = 39

Hills-Beaver Creek pulled away late in the first half Thursday night, securing a 53-39 victory over Red Rock Central at Lamberton.

The Patriots attacked the bucket much of the night, making hay from the free throw line in the game. HBC went 20-of-26 from the stripe for the game.

RRC kept things tight early, hitting four three-pointers in the opening half. But neither team could generate much on offense in the second half, as the Patriots were able to maintain their lead throughout.

Alyssa Cowan and Taylor Lang each scored 15 points in the loss for the Falcons.
