GIRLS HOCKEY: Eagles upend Trojans

Worthington 0-0-1 = 1
Windom Area 0-1-2 = 3

The Windom Area girls hockey peppered the net and kept the puck in the offensive zone much of the night Thursday, leading to a 3-1 victory over Worthington at the Windom Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the scoreboard early in the second, as Toria Robillard won a scramble for a loose puck and tipped a shot past the Trojan goalie for a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles stretched the lead to 2-0 early in the third period when Madyson Fredin took a pass from Ella Dockter and sizzled a wrist shot into the top-right corner of the net.

Halfway through the third, the Eagles got an insurance goal when Marissa Becker knocked home a one-timer off a Marenna Bang feed.

The Trojans snapped the shutout bid for Eagle goalie Lilly McNea with a power play goal with 5:05 left on the clock.

The Eagles outshot the Trojans 44-14. McNea finished the game with 13 saves.
