TUESDAY BOYS BASKETBALL: Wolverines pull away from Coyotes

The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys basketball team turned up the heat in the second half Tuesday night, starting the half with a 20-2 run to propel a 75-41 win over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda in Okabena.

The Wolverines used a 12-0 run in the first half to erase an early deficit and build an 11-point halftime lead.

But in the second half, the Wolverines came out with tight defensive pressure and hot shooting, opening the half with the 20-2 run. MLAC recorded 15 steals as a team in the game, with many coming in the early stages of the second half.

The Wolverines had good offensive balance in the game, led by Carter Olson and Kody Wassman with 15 points each. Grant Regier chipped in 11 points and Grant Oakland finished with 10 points.

Pipestone at Windom, ppd.

Tuesday’s scheduled girl/boy doubleheader between Pipestone and Windom was postponed, as Pipestone closed school on Tuesday.

The girls game was rescheduled for Thursday, and will be played as a girl/boy doubleheader. The girls varsity will face Pipestone at 6 p.m., followed by the boys taking on Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain at around 7:30 p.m.

The boys portion of the Pipestone doubleheader was rescheduled for Feb. 8.

Red Rock Central’s scheduled boys basketball game against Adrian-Ellsworth was postponed Tuesday, as both Adrian and Ellsworth closed school due to snow.

The game has not yet been rescheduled.
