BOYS HOCKEY: Eagles get swept on roadtrip

The Windom Area boys hockey team mounted a furious comeback to force overtime Friday night, but Becker-Big Lake scored in the extra period to claim a 6-5 victory in a game played at Princeton.

The Eagles got on the board in the second period, as Wriley Haugen netted a power play goal. But BBL scored twice in the final minute of the period to take a 4-1 lead into the third.

The Eagles scored at the 5:48 mark of the period on a breakaway goal from Karson LaCanne. The Eagles cut the deficit to 4-3 12 seconds later on a goal from Sonny Heil, then tied the game with 3:49 left in regulation on a goal from Landon Pillatzki.

BBL regained the lead with 2:59 left in regulation, but the Eagles tied the game again with 1:04 left on the clock on a goal from Pillatzki.

In overtime, BBL capitalized on an odd-man rush with 3:23 left on the clock, scoring the game-winning goal.

BBL outshot the Eagles 38-21 for the game. Adam Dahna finished with 32 saves.

SRR 3-4-1 = 8

Sauk Rapids-Rice raced to a commanding early lead and never looked back Saturday, cruising to an 8-1 victory over the Windom Area boys hockey team at Sauk Rapids.

The Storm scored three goals in the first six minutes of the game, then tacked on four more goals in the second period to take a 7-0 lead.

The Eagles netted their only goal of the game with 41 seconds left in the second period, as Sonny Heil scored a power play goal.

SRR outshot the Eagles 52-15 for the game. Adam Dahna finished with 44 saves in the loss.
