WRESTLING: Cobras win twice at Springfield

The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team picked up a pair of dual meet victories Thursday, going 2-1 at a four-team meet held at Springfield.

The Cobras opened the night with a 47-30 win over Minneapolis North. WML then dropped a 45-21 decision to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City before finishing with a 54-24 win over Springfield.

Against North, the Cobras had falls from Preston Xayachak (121), Carson Wall (127) and Kameron Koerner (139). Tucker Renquist (145) added a technical fall. The Cobras also had three forfeit victories.

Against ACGC, the Cobras started strong, winning the first five weights. Xayachak (121) and Wall (127) won by fall, while Jacob Lopez (107), Matthew Voehl (114) and Koerner (133) won by decision.

But ACGC won the final eight weights, including three by fall and one by injury default, to seal the match.

Against Springfield, the Cobras again started strong, with falls from Lopez (107), Voehl (114), Wall (127) and Renquist (139). Erik Ramirez (152) added a fall, as did John Bergeman (189) and Sam Hernandez (215). The Cobras also had two forfeit wins.
