BOYS BASKETBALL: Wolverines shoot past Knights

MLAC 31-51 = 82
RTR 30-37 = 67

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey bombed away from the outside and had a strong night on the glass Thursday night, earning an 82-67 win over reigning state champion Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Tyler.

The Wolverines led by a single point at halftime, but came out in the second half firing. MLAC outscored RTR 36-9 from three-point range in the game. The Wolverines also held a slim edge in points in the paint in the victory.

But the key in the second half was crashing the boards, as the Wolverines created several second-chance opportunities. That led to the Wolverines outscoring RTR 51-37 over the final 18 minutes.

Grant Oakland poured in 20 points in the victory. Carter Olson added 16 points and dished out nine assists, and Alex Karschnik added 15 points.
