Area residents are asked to donate blood to the American Red Cross in honor of Travis Muller. A blood drive will be held Wednesday (Jan. 3) at the Windom Community Center. The blood drive runs from 1-6 p.m.
Following his accident last Fall, Travis received seven units of blood before he even reached the hospital, and additional units during subsequent surgeries. The family credits blood donations with helping save his life.
His aunt, Monica Muller, has been a Red Cross blood drive coordinator for 15 years and says this blood drive is a call to action for the community to help ensure blood is on the shelves when emergencies happen.
Also, those who donate have a chance to win a Hy-Vee gift card, among other prizes. Those who donate from now until Friday will receive a new long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-Red Cross or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter WindomMn.
