The Windom Eagle girls basketball team turned up the heat on defense Tuesday night, racing to a dominant early lead on its way to an 84-51 win at Blue Earth Area.

The Eagles forced the Bucs into 32 turnovers for the game, which allowed the Eagles to  outscore the Bucs 43-3 in transition.

Windom held a 60-25 halftime lead before easing off the gas pedal in the second half.

Haidyn Sammons poured in a career-high 28 points. Hannah Dauer scored 23 and Hadley Sammons added 20 in the win.

RRC 30-23 = 53
YME 20-31 = 51

Red Rock Central got off to a strong start, then hung on late Tuesday night, claiming a 53-51 win over Yellow Medicine East at Granite Falls.

The Falcons came out of the gates firing from the outside, hitting seven three-pointers in the opening half to stake themselves to a 10-point halftime lead.

In the second half, the Sting tightened up their outside defense, mounting a late rally. But RRC was able to work the ball inside, with Alyssa Cowan scoring 12 of her team-high 16 points in the second half. Her late bucket helped seal the victory for the Falcons.

Ella Erickson added 14 points in the win.
