TUESDAY BOYS BASKETBALL: Eagles fall to Trojans; Wolverines, Falcons claim wins

Windom 35-32 = 67
Worthington 64-38 = 102

A shaky first half on defense Tuesday night doomed the Windom Eagle boys basketball team, as Worthington raced to a dominant lead and claimed a 102-67 victory at Worthington.

The Trojans forced the Eagles into 15 turnovers in the game, with many coming in the first half. Meanwhile, Worthington was red hot from the field early, building a commanding 29-point halftime edge.

Windom struggled from the outside in the game, shooting just 27% from three-point range. The Eagles’ struggles from the free throw line also continued, as Windom went just 5-of-14 from the stripe.

Elliot Serreyn led the Eagles with 16 points in the loss. Job Ogeka added 12 points.

WWG 14-33 = 47
MLAC 35-31 = 66

A dazzling defensive effort sparked the Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys basketball team Tuesday night, as the Wolverines raced to a 66-47 victory over Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines held the Charger offense in check early, forcing poor shots and turnovers. That allowed the Wolverines to raced to a 21-point halftime lead behind six first-half three-pointers.

WWG battled back in the second half, but MLAC’s offensive balance proved to be too much for the Chargers to overcome.

Ashton Toll and Alex Karschnik each finished with 15 points to lead the Wolverines. Carter Olson added 13 points and Grant Regier finished with 11.

HLOF 32-18 = 50
RRC 30-30 = 60

Red Rock Central clamped down on defense in the second half Tuesday night, pulling away for a 60-50 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda at Lamberton.

HLOF led by as many as eight in the opening half and led by two at halftime, but RRC rallied in the second half, holding HLOF to 18 points.

Meanwhile, the Falcons pounded the ball into the lane, shooting 43% from the field and 53% from two-point range for the game.

Isaac Simonson led the way with 17 points and 15 rebounds in the victory. Corey Arkell added 12 points and Ashton Holmen chipped in 11 points.
