Police Department warns of counterfeit money

The Mt. Lake Police Department is warning the public and businesses about counterfeit money that appears to be circulating in the community.

According to a press release, counterfeit $20 bills have been used in the community. The bills that have been reported appear to be props used in movies, as they are marked in several spots as being “For Motion Picture Purposes.”

If anyone uses or attempts to use fake currency at a business, the business is urged to contact their local police department, Cottonwood County Dispatch (507-831-1375) or 911.
