GIRLS HOCKEY: Eagles fall in Saturday matinee

Hutchinson 1-2-2 = 5
Windom Area 0-0-1 = 1

The Windom Area girls hockey team couldn’t withstand a barrage of shots and four power play goals Saturday, dropping a 5-1 decision to Hutchinson at the Windom Arena.

The Eagles were whistled for 10 penalties in the game, allowing the Tigers to pepper the Eagle net with shots on goal much of the game.

Hutchinson fired 55 shots on the Eagle net, including 24 in the opening period. A power play goal in the first period was all that Hutchinson was able to get into the net early, but the Tigers took a 3-0 lead after two periods.

Windom Area was able to score a power play of its own early in the third, as a goal from Lyvia McManigle cut the deficit to 3-1. But Hutchinson scored another power play goal halfway through the period, then scored a power play goal with 26 seconds left on the clock.

Eagle goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 50 saves in the loss.
